The Week-end

Woke up to a cloud of fog. Had to wait until 9:00am for it to burn off to make our way safely During the breakfast we had a little air clearing to deal with. The stress of the motor repairs and financial set back had been getting to both of us. The end result was there was nothing we could do about it, no going back now and the only thing we could do was change our attitudes. The sun came out underway and for the first time since we had the transmission trouble we are enjoying the trip again. We passed threw Lock 16 to Lock 8 and tied up outside Lock 8. When we landed we meet a couple of boats from Belleville who are doing the dream and heading to the Bahama's with us.

Woke up to another Smoke on the Water morning. Cleared up as we motored out to Lock 8 and passed threw a succession of them to end our journey of the canal. At the end in Waterford there are five locks called the Flight of Five. In this group you transition 150 feet to join up with the Hudson River. Our pass of 10 days had expired on Saturday so we had to take out another two day pass. The whole Canal cost us $52.00 and has opened up hydro, services and locks to move us across this great nation.
What a wonderful way to go Highway H20. When we got to Waterford the place was packed with Bahama bound sailboats. There was so many of them we had to raft off. Fortunately our tenacious \Irishman on Sinn Fein was able to secure us a spot on the wall. The Wall is about six feet above our heads so we rigged up our swim ladder to climb up.
