Tuesday February 24, 2015

We had to take Bev to an appointment today so she can volunteer in a Hospice down here. How do you like that? After much scrutiny they accepted her and she meet her new patients.

After she was finished we went to the boat to go for a sail. The weather was warm but a front moved in and it was foggy on the Gulf. That of course did not stop us from going out for a sail. After we got back in we went down to the Bonita Bill's for a drink and some peeled shrimp. The restaurant is right on the water and lots of attention happens when boats come in and clean the fish on the docks and all the pelicans gather for a buffet.

It was our turn to make dinner and we cooked up a delicious pork roast called Jurassic Park out of the Looney Spoon Book.

After dinner Bev took me to her book club for the evening. It is so nice to talk out the door and not wear a coat, hat, mitts, infinity scarf, boots.

Monday February 23,2015

This morning Bev and I went to the pool to do Aerobics underwater. The pool was full of women and a few men. It was a fun workout.

We had a relaxing day put sing around the condo checking out Alastair and Beverly's other units.
We helped move some furniture so the carpet could be cleaned and moved a dresser back to another unit that was owned by a friend. It was interesting to see how different each unit looks with the different decorating. There are three or four different styles depending on what you need. There challenge now is to decide which one to keep for themselves. They are getting this unit painted when they leave for the summer. We are so happy to be here in the 80 F weather and just keep trying to find things to do outside so we can enjoy the sun.

Sunday February 22, 2015

We got up early and headed out on the highway toward Fort Myers. We called Bev and Alastair last night and they are home and wanted us to come for a sail. We have about a three hour road trip to get to their Condo. They are located at the Heritage Pointe in South Fort Myers. When we got here Alastair came out to greet us with a welcome. He had a big gouge on the side of his head and he told us he had taken the boat out with a couple of friends to clean the bottom so that Dick would not be concerned about it slowing the boat performance down. He was under the bow and a piece of metal that hold the nav. lights caught him in the top of the head.
We had a beautiful sunny day so we took off to the boat for our first sail as soon as we got here.
There is a channel you have to go out  along by Fort Myers Beach and then when you get out of the last mark it is clear sailing. There are islands, lots of other boaters, beautiful waterfront property some friendly dolphins who come by the boat.

Trip down to Florida - Saturday February 21, 2015

My husband and I had the great fortune to be able to leave work at noon on Friday February 20, 2015. We drove straight through and had dry roads and not to much traffic. By the time we got north of Macon Georgia it was about 3:30 pm and I asked Dick to stop and let us shut our eyes and get a bit of sleep. He pulled in for gas and when I got in the store I decided to buy a coffee and try to make a go of it so we could get out of the cold before we start. When we got back on the highway we noticed a fire on the side of the road. We were about the seventh car in the line up and we were stopped for about an hour and a half. It was a very reverent feeling because we were so close to having been in the situation. This car had crossed the highway ended up on its roof and started on fire.
We arrive in Florida in the morning and after breakfast decided we would get to Tampa so we could get into a room. We love the Baymont last year and decided to head for there. Unfortunately they were full and so we went to the Travel Lodge. They let us get in our room so we were able to crash and get some sleep. The temperature is about 22 C. So wonderful to be in the sun again.
